Steve Cotterill, the manager of Forest Green Rovers, gave his perspective on the team’s upcoming home game against Oldham Athletic, ensuring that the match will not influence any potential future encounter in the National League play-offs. Despite securing the third position in the league after a convincing 3-0 victory over Tamworth, the team remains motivated to end the season on a high note before the play-offs commence.
Cotterill expressed, “It has no bearing really on if we play them again in the play-offs. I think it has been a long season… we know we are in them now, we know where we are. We can plan after our season has finished.”
Furthermore, Cotterill provided an update on Jordan Moore-Taylor’s recovery, indicating that the player is nearing a return to the squad after being sidelined since January.

The team’s recent 3-0 win over Tamworth showcased Charlie McCann’s 10th league goal of the season, prompting Cotterill to highlight the significance of contributions from all areas of the pitch. He stressed the importance of diversifying goal sources to mitigate reliance on a single striker and commended players like Ryan Inniss and Kyle McAllister for their noteworthy goal contributions.
Regarding McCann’s evolving role and goal-scoring abilities, Cotterill emphasized, “He strikes a ball very well… He has got a goal in him; he can shoot with both feet. When he faces you up, you might be able to think you can step on his inside and block his right-footed shot, but he will chop you and will get the shot off with his left foot. That is a big help.”
Reflecting on the upcoming match against Oldham Athletic, Cotterill expressed anticipation while acknowledging potential changes in the opposing team’s personnel.
