Carlisle United were forced to settle for a point at home for the second time in four days following a 1-1 draw with Forest Green Rovers at Brunton Park. The match marked the beginning of Carlisle’s second consecutive season in the fifth tier of English football.
Forest Green took an early lead through midfielder Kyle Kelly, who headed home from a precise cross by Jayden Clarke in the eighth minute. Prior to that goal, Carlisle had a strong penalty appeal waved away in the opening minute when Teddy Jenks went down in the penalty area.
Carlisle responded well and managed to restore parity before half-time. Their equaliser came in the 29th minute following a lapse in the visitors’ defence, allowing Jenks to gain possession before the ball fell to Micah Obiero, who struck a powerful finish to level the score.
