Forest Green Rovers' winless streak in the National League has now reached four games after they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Wealdstone. The match was notable for the absence of manager Robbie Savage, who was granted permission to hold talks with Peterborough following their decision to sack Luke Williams after a disappointing start to the League One season.
During Savage’s absence, chairman Dale Vince confirmed the managerial discussions, while caretaker Jonathan Gould took charge of the team for the match.
Wealdstone took the lead just before the half-hour mark when Fejiri Okenabirhie, making his full debut, capitalised on a flick-on from Joe Newton to score at the far post. However, Forest Green responded seven minutes before half-time. Tate Campbell, scoring his first goal of the season, converted a cross from Sean Etaluku to level the scores. The home side pushed for a winner, with captain Kyle McAllister notably striking the post with a powerful shot.
