Forest Green Rovers Close to Signing Hemel Hempstead Captain Kyle Ajayi

Forest Green Rovers are reportedly nearing an agreement to sign Kyle Ajayi, the captain and centre-back of Hemel Hempstead Town. The 25-year-old defender has been a pivotal figure for the Tudors, helping lead them to the National League South Play-Off Eliminator, where they narrowly lost to Weston-super-Mare on penalties.

Ajayi, a left-footed centre-half standing 5ft 9in tall, would be an intelligent addition to Forest Green’s defense, potentially filling the gap left by Jordan Moore-Taylor’s recent departure. Moore-Taylor left the club following discussions after the release of the retained list.

Since joining Hemel Hempstead in July 2020 from AFC Dunstable, Ajayi has been a consistent performer and was honored with the Manager’s Player of the Season award for the 2024/25 campaign. Should the move be finalized, Ajayi would join a reduced defense lineup at Forest Green alongside Gabe Kircough and Cian Harries, following the exits of Abraham Kanu, Moore-Taylor, and Ryan Inniss.
