Forest Green Rovers Captain Laurent Mendy Set to Join Hearts in £500,000 Deal

Scottish Premiership club Hearts have reached an agreement to sign midfielder Laurent Mendy from Forest Green Rovers. The deal, reportedly worth £500,000 plus potential add-ons, was accepted by the National League side, according to the Daily Record.

Hearts initially had a bid rejected in January, and Forest Green’s manager Robbie Savage insisted recently that the French midfielder was not for sale. However, the Tynecastle team returned with an improved offer this week, and 29-year-old Mendy is set to travel to Edinburgh for a medical and to finalize personal terms.

Mendy, standing 6ft 3in tall, is currently the captain of Forest Green Rovers. He rose through the non-league system, spending four years at Macclesfield FC before following Savage’s path to Forest Green. Last season, he made 46 appearances as the Green Army finished seventh in the National League.

The move comes after Hearts identified Mendy as a target through their Jamestown Analytics recruitment tool. The Jambos have been busy this summer, with Mendy poised to become their tenth signing ahead of their Champions League second qualifying round match against Sturm Graz in Austria.
