Forest Green Rovers Boss Praises Tactical Changes and Fifth Goal from Ryan Inniss in Yeovil Town Draw

Forest Green Rovers boss Steve Cotterill commended his substitutes for their determination after securing a 1-1 draw against Yeovil Town on Good Friday in the National League.

A late goal from Ryan Inniss nullified Sonny Blu Lo-Everton’s first-half opener, earning Rovers a valuable point on the road.

Cotterill expressed his satisfaction with the changes made around the 70th minute, stating, “I thought they were great. It would have been easier for us, but they (Yeovil) almost matched us back up again. I thought the lads were really good, certainly in that last 20 minutes.”

The tactician also emphasized the difficulty of turning the game around after a slow start, highlighting the team’s efforts to change their game plan following a series of losses.

The match saw Rovers transitioning from a 3-4-1-2 formation to their familiar 4-3-3 setup, a tactical shift that Cotterill believes paid off. He mentioned, “We looked much better. Most of the teams up there in the division have played with three forwards with two wingers and a striker and we haven’t done bad with it.”

The goal from Inniss marked his fifth of the season and his second against Yeovil, demonstrating his resilience after sustaining injuries earlier in the game.

Forest Green Rovers currently hold the third position, aiming to secure a home semi-final in the National League play-offs.

The team’s next challenge will be against 10th-placed Tamworth at home on Monday, with Cotterill acknowledging the physicality and competitiveness expected from the opposition.
