Florence Welch’s Haunted Mansion: £1.9million Ghostly Abode

Florence Welch, the lead singer of indie rock band Florence and The Machine, has reportedly purchased a £1.9million property in the West Country. Despite her purchase in 2021, extensive renovations have prevented her from moving in for four years.

The Grade II listed home in Somerset underwent final plans last year, indicating Welch’s intention to unite the four separate buildings on the plot, which have been used as individual homes since the 1940s. Welch managed to acquire the final building on the estate in 2023, with no objections from neighbors to the renovation plans. However, these plans may not sit well with a former resident of the property - the purported ghost, a grey lady, mentioned in local tales and a book chronicling the area’s legends, as reported by Somerset Live.

Welch’s spiritual leanings are well-known, and while it is unclear whether she is aware of the rumored specter, the potential of a supernatural inhabitant in her new estate may be a welcome addition for the singer, who has previously expressed her fascination with the supernatural in interviews. The artist now owns a historical estate dating back to the 12th century, set on 1.2 acres of peaceful Somerset land, featuring mature outbuildings and landscaped gardens. The impressive property comes with sixty rooms over three levels, including a scullery, magnificent hall, swimming pool, and a folly.

Since embarking on the acquisition process, Welch has submitted six planning applications for the mansion’s renovation, all at various stages of the approval process. When reached for comment by MailOnline, Welch’s representatives declined to provide a statement.
