Firefighters from two stations responded swiftly to a suspected house fire in Cheltenham on Sunday evening. At 5.45pm, three fire engines-one from Cheltenham West and two from Cheltenham East-were dispatched to the corner of Pates Avenue and Alstone Lane following a 999 call reporting a potential large-scale property blaze.
A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service explained that sending three appliances is standard procedure for suspected property fires. Upon arrival, crews discovered the source of the smoke to be a small rubbish fire in the garden rather than a structural fire within the house.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze using one hose reel jet, effectively preventing any further damage. The stop message was received at 6.23pm, confirming the incident had been fully resolved. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the event.
