As Charlotte Lucas, she adopted a dark, mousy hairstyle and fringe, embodying Jane Austen’s character who marries for security rather than love. Acting alongside stars like Keira Knightley, Matthew MacFadyen, and Tom Hollander, Blakley brought depth and nuance to Charlotte’s pragmatic choices.

Since that iconic role, Blakley has continued to impress with appearances in series such as Grantchester, Flesh and Blood, Manhunt, and Man vs. Bee. She will return as Mrs Devine for Father Brown’s 13th season, with filming underway.
