Fans of the charming detective series Father Brown will need to adjust their viewing plans, as the show has been temporarily removed from BBC One’s regular Friday afternoon lineup for the next two weeks.
Starring Mark Williams as the insightful crime-solving priest, Father Brown returned last month for its 13th series, continuing its long-standing tradition on BBC One’s Friday 2 pm slot. Viewers eagerly expected the next episode, “The Obedient Wife,” to air on Friday, February 13 — but due to a scheduling reshuffle, the BBC has pulled the show to accommodate live coverage of the Winter Olympics.
The network is dedicating over 450 hours to broadcasting the Milan-Cortina Winter Games, featuring thrilling competitions from top athletes in snow and ice sports. This special coverage will run through February 22, which means Father Brown will also be absent on Friday, February 20.

It’s not just Father Brown affected by this change; other popular programmes such as Death in Paradise, Silent Witness, and MasterChef, along with The FA Cup football matches, will also be impacted by the Olympic schedule.
Father Brown is expected to return to its usual Friday 2 pm slot on February 27. In the meantime, audiences can catch up with the entire 13th series on BBC iPlayer.
Series 13 has brought back familiar faces alongside Mark Williams, including Tom Chambers as Inspector Sullivan, Claudie Blakley as the newlywed Mrs. Isabel Sullivan, Ruby-May Martinwood as Brenda, John Burton as Sergeant Goodfellow, and Sorcha Cusack reprising her role as Mrs. McCarthy.
The season has also welcomed exciting guest stars such as Maureen Lipman, Julia Sawalha, Phil Daniels, Debra Stephenson, Davood Ghadami, Kevin Harvey, George Rainsford, and Timothy Watson.
The new series delves into fresh storylines, beginning with the newly married Inspectors Sullivan settling into domestic life. Brenda embarks on a journey of empowerment as she takes on Parish Secretary duties and learns to drive. Meanwhile, Father Brown faces a dangerous challenge when asked by Flambeau to visit Father Lazarus in prison, sparking a perilous game of wits. With Bishop-Elect Fox plotting revenge, the parish of Kembleford braces for change—and, in a first for the series, the characters even take a seaside trip.
Fans can look forward to the return of Father Brown shortly and stay updated via BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
