Fans of Father Brown may be disappointed to learn that the series has been temporarily removed from BBC One’s regular Friday afternoon schedule. The detective drama, starring Mark Williams as the astute crime-solving clergyman, returned last month for its 13th series and has been a Friday 2pm fixture for its loyal audience.
Based on G.K. Chesterton’s iconic character, Father Brown delivers 45 minutes of mystery and intrigue weekly. Viewers expecting the next episode, titled “The Obedient Wife,” on Friday, February 13, were surprised to find the show pulled due to schedule changes.
This adjustment allows the BBC to broadcast extensive live coverage of the Winter Olympics from Milan-Cortina. Over 450 hours of world-class winter sports action will be aired, showcasing thrilling moments on snow and ice. The Olympic coverage is set to run through February 22, with normal programming—including Father Brown—resuming on Friday, February 27.

Father Brown isn’t the only program affected; other favorites like Death in Paradise, Silent Witness, and MasterChef are also on hiatus, as well as football coverage for The FA Cup.
For eager viewers, Series 13 is fully available to stream now on BBC iPlayer. This latest season features the return of key cast members such as Tom Chambers as Inspector Sullivan, Claudie Blakley as Mrs Isabel Sullivan, Ruby-May Martinwood as Brenda, and John Burton as Sergeant Goodfellow. Sorcha Cusack reprised her role as Mrs McCarthy in the season opener.
The series also welcomes notable guest stars including Maureen Lipman, Julia Sawalha, Phil Daniels, Debra Stephenson, Davood Ghadami, Kevin Harvey, George Rainsford, and Timothy Watson.
Series 13 follows the newlywed Sullivans as they settle into married life and join the Policeman’s Wives Society. Brenda embarks on a journey of self-empowerment by taking on Parish Secretary duties and learning to drive. Meanwhile, Father Brown faces new challenges, including a tense prison visit for Father Lazarus, a brewing conflict with Bishop-Elect Fox, and an unprecedented seaside trip with the group.
Father Brown will return to its regular Friday afternoon slot on BBC One and continues to be available on BBC iPlayer for on-demand viewing.
