Tom Chambers, known for his role in Father Brown, recently delighted fans by sharing his experience of reuniting with former Holby City co-star Alex Macqueen during the latest series of the BBC’s beloved detective drama.
Father Brown, which stars Mark Williams as a clever Roman Catholic priest solving crimes, returned earlier this month for its 13th season. This installment boasts an impressive array of guest stars, including Alex Macqueen, who played Keith Greene in Holby City from 2005 to 2010. Tom Chambers and Alex shared the screen during their time on Holby, where Tom portrayed Sam Strachan.
Speaking about their on-set reunion, Tom said, “He joined us for the seaside episode. Alex is such a funny guy. When the cameras weren’t rolling, he would often switch up his voice or do something hilarious to make everyone laugh.” He added, “There was a lot of lighthearted, harmless fun happening behind the scenes during filming.”

Tom expressed his admiration for the show’s guest actors, calling the opportunity to work with them “a treat.” “The casting is always fantastic,” he noted. “They perfectly fit their roles and bring incredible talent. We get a mix of seasoned actors and newcomers, which makes it exciting to share stories and perform these wonderful parts together.”
In Father Brown, Tom Chambers plays Inspector Sullivan, a character inspired by G.K. Chesterton’s famous short stories. In the previous series, fans saw Inspector Sullivan marry Isabel, portrayed by Claudie Blakley. The new season continues to explore their life as newlyweds, with Isabel joining the Policeman’s Wives Society.
Claudie Blakley recently shared insights about their on-screen relationship, revealing that “there’s a bit of adjusting going on” as the couple navigates changes. She explained, “Not only have they just gotten married, but Edgar has been demoted, which adds pressure. They’re also dealing with the challenge of finding the right home and friendly debates over furniture choices!”
Father Brown continues to captivate audiences with its mix of mystery, character development, and engaging performances, enhanced by memorable guest stars and heartfelt storylines.
