Father Brown Star Mark Williams Ventures into Sci-Fi with Star Trek and EastEnders Alumni

Mark Williams, best known for his role as Father Brown, is trading the quiet village of Kembleford for the thrilling world of science fiction. The beloved actor, who continues to captivate audiences in the twelfth season of Father Brown, is set to star in the upcoming sci-fi film Dream Hacker, currently in post-production.

While Father Brown fans eagerly await the show’s thirteenth season, expected to premiere in early 2026, Williams is diving into a new character, Edgar Wainwright, in this futuristic tale. Details about his role remain under wraps, but excitement is building around the project.

Dream Hacker boasts an impressive cast featuring actress Glynis Barber, known for her role as Glenda Mitchell in EastEnders and appearances in Point Break and Hollyoaks. Joining them is Marina Sirtis, legendary for her portrayal of Counsellor Deanna Troi in Star Trek: The Next Generation and its related films.

The storyline follows Professor Jennifer Connelly (played by Molly Hanson), a scientific prodigy specializing in dreams and their influence on the waking mind. After years of research, Jennifer believes she can observe and even manipulate others’ dreams using specialized equipment. Supported by a government grant, she tests the experiment on herself, only to encounter an AI named Adam—an unexpected creation and her gateway into the dream world she has engineered.

Father Brown remains available to watch on BBC One and BBC iPlayer as Mark Williams embarks on this exciting new chapter in his acting career.
