Father Brown Season 13 Returns After Hiatus: How Many Episodes Remain?

Father Brown, the beloved BBC drama starring Mark Williams as the astute crime-solving priest, is back on air after a brief two-week break. The show, inspired by GK Chesterton’s classic novels, returned in January with its 13th season and airs every Friday at 2 pm, with each episode running approximately 45 minutes.

The pause came as the BBC prioritized Winter Olympics coverage, temporarily pulling Father Brown from its usual slot. Now, normal programming has resumed, and season 13 continues with episode 6, titled “The Obedient Wife,” airing on Friday, February 27.

So far this season, viewers have welcomed back fan favorites such as Tom Chambers as Inspector Sullivan, Claudie Blakley as Isabel Sullivan, Ruby-May Martinwood as Brenda, and John Burton as Sergeant Goodfellow. Sorcha Cusack reprised her role as Mrs. McCarthy in the season opener. Additionally, a host of guest stars like Maureen Lipman, Julia Sawalha, Phil Daniels, and Davood Ghadami have appeared in various episodes.

Season 13 comprises a total of 10 episodes. The first five episodes aired from January 9 through February 13 before the hiatus. The remaining five episodes will be broadcast on Fridays at 2 pm starting February 27 and will continue into March.

The season’s storyline follows the newly married Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan navigating their new life together. Meanwhile, Brenda embarks on a journey of self-empowerment as Parish Secretary and learns to drive with Sergeant Goodfellow’s support. Father Brown faces new challenges, including a tense visit to Father Lazarus in prison and looming threats from Bishop-Elect Fox. In a series first, the group even takes a trip to the seaside, promising fresh adventures in Kembleford.

Catch Father Brown back on BBC One at 2 pm this Friday as the mystery continues.
