The beloved BBC mystery drama Father Brown is back for its 13th season, captivating audiences once again with intriguing plots and memorable characters. The series has already surprised fans with unexpected twists, including the return of Sorcha Cusack as the endearing church secretary, Mrs McCarthy.
Mark Williams, who plays Father Brown, shared some behind-the-scenes insights about filming the new series. He admitted that the cast often found it difficult to keep straight faces during some of the more unusual death scenes. “We sometimes have trouble with the death scenes, because, as you can imagine, it’s hard sometimes to take it quite as seriously as we should,” he explained. Williams added that Daisy Beaumont and Nancy Carroll’s involvement in a particular character’s death led to many giggles on set.
The upcoming second episode, titled “The Hole in My Heart,” centers on Father Brown’s investigation into the return of rock ‘n’ roll duo, the Hart Brothers, whose arrival in Kembleford unleashes deadly consequences.

Ryan Quarmby stars as Johnny Hart, one half of the charismatic Hart Brothers. Quarmby is an accomplished English actor known for roles in Netflix’s The Last Kingdom, as well as recent appearances in A Thousand Blows, Call the Midwife, and The Gathering.
Ben Rose plays Jack Hart, Johnny’s brother and musical partner. Rose, who is also a musical artist, has gained recognition for his role as Bardon Quinn in This Town. His TV credits include Doctors, Line of Duty, and The Innocents.
Davood Ghadami joins the cast as Howie, a character closely connected to the Hart Brothers. Ghadami, a familiar face to UK television viewers, previously played Kush Kazemi on EastEnders before moving to Holby City as Eli Ebrahimi.
Natasha Calland portrays Betty, who is seen photographing the band in a moment of shock ahead of a pivotal event. Calland’s guest roles span notable series such as Doctors, Casualty, It’s A Sin, and Queens of Mystery.
Frances McNamee appears as Meredith, a reserved figure whose true intentions remain a mystery. McNamee is a respected actress and singer with strong theatre credentials, including work with the Royal Shakespeare Company, alongside TV appearances in Casualty, Murder Most Puzzling, and G’wed.
