Farmor’s School in Fairford, Gloucestershire, is embarking on a fundraising endeavor to construct a cutting-edge all-weather pitch. With backing from local clubs, councils, and the Football Association, the school has launched a community crowdfunding initiative called “Pitch In!” to bring this vision to life. The goal is to address the lack of sufficient sports facilities in the area and potentially receive up to 70% funding from the Football Association.
The project doesn’t only serve the school’s teams but also seeks to benefit grassroots sports in the community. By collaborating with Fairford Youth Football Club, Fairford Rugby Club, town and district councils, and The Football Foundation, Farmor’s School aims to ensure that the new pitch caters to a diverse range of local groups.
Amber Barker-Harrold, a librarian at Farmor’s School, emphasized the collective commitment to promoting community well-being through sports. She stated, “Essentially, we are a group of educators and volunteers who believe passionately in the power of sport for physical and mental well-being. We are working together to provide for today’s and tomorrow’s young people, so why not join in?”
