Fancy Cat Show Comes to Cheltenham Featuring a Spectacular Purrade of Breeds

Cheltenham is set to host a grand feline event this July as the Fancy Cats Organisation brings its celebrated cat show to Bournside Sports Centre. Over two exciting days, cats from across the UK will compete for prestigious titles, ranking points, and prizes, all culminating in the coveted Best in Show award.

Visitors can look forward to admiring an impressive array of cat breeds, all judged by internationally renowned experts. The event offers a unique chance to engage with breeders and exhibitors, providing insights into the world of pedigree and household cats alike.

One of the highlight attractions is the ‘Fancy Cat Purrade,’ a vibrant parade where various breeds are showcased, celebrating their distinctive beauty and characteristics. The event also features breed presentations, children’s activities, cat rescue groups, and vendors offering a wide selection of cat-related products and accessories.

The show will host an array of beloved pedigree breeds including British Shorthair, Persian, Exotic, Bengal, Maine Coon, Oriental, Siamese, Ragdoll, Somali, Cornish Rex, Ocicat, and Aztec, promising something to captivate every cat enthusiast.

Kelly Makdissy, Founder and Director of Fancy Cats, explains: “Our mission is to celebrate cats in all their diversity by promoting ethical breeding and showcasing their beauty. We aim to preserve breeds, promote responsible ownership, and highlight the joy and companionship cats bring to our lives. Our community unites cat lovers, breeders, and advocates to celebrate and protect the feline world.”

Among the exhibitors are Churchdown residents Anna and Fred Hudd, who will present their chocolate-colored Oriental Shorthair, Nigel. Anna shares, “We love the welcoming atmosphere of these shows and enjoy sharing our cats with visitors, helping them learn about different breeds.”

The show proudly welcomes all cats, including household pets, with dedicated competition classes that allow pet owners to discover and celebrate their cats’ star qualities. The unique Fancy Cats Class features both pedigree and household cats competing head-to-head, giving every feline a chance to shine.

The Fancy Cat Show will take place on Saturday, July 26, and Sunday, July 27, open to the public from 10am to 4pm at Bournside Sports Centre. For those interested in entering their cat or seeking more information, the Fancy Cats Organisation is the contact point.
