The Hollow Bottom, a renowned pub nestled in the Cotswolds village of Guiting Power, is set to reopen this Friday, July 25, after closing its doors unexpectedly last month. Under the fresh leadership of acclaimed chefs Nathan Eades and Liam Goff, the pub aims to revive its longstanding connection to the local community and its celebrated horse racing traditions.
Located just 25 minutes from Cheltenham Racecourse and close to the legendary stables of racing icons Nigel and Willy Twiston-Davies and Jonjo and AJ O’Neill, The Hollow Bottom remains deeply intertwined with the region’s equestrian culture. This heritage will remain at the heart of the pub’s refreshed identity.
Nathan and Liam bring impressive credentials to the venture. They already helm the Michelin-recommended Halfway at Kineton and the Bib Gourmand-awarded Horse and Groom in Bourton on the Hill. Their shared passion for honest, high-quality food and welcoming hospitality is set to breathe new life into The Hollow Bottom, aiming to restore it as a cherished village hub.

“We’re incredibly proud to take on such an important local institution,” Nathan says. “The Hollow Bottom is far more than just a pub; it’s an essential part of Guiting Power’s farming and racing community. It’s had a tough few years, but we want to restore its glory days and give the village their much-loved pub back.”
Guests can look forward to daily-changing menus incorporating local favorites alongside a thoughtfully curated drinks selection that pays homage to the pub’s legacy. Complementing this will be an inviting atmosphere featuring happy hours, racing broadcasts, and a lively garden space.
Leading the kitchen is Josh Murphy, who boasts experience from Michelin-starred kitchens including Lucknam Park near Bath and Le Champignon Sauvage in Cheltenham. He will be joined by Felipe Escoda, a seasoned chef with a history at The Cross at Kenilworth, The Ritz, and The Wild Rabbit. The experienced team is further strengthened by Claudio Liquori as Restaurant Manager and Miles Partridge assisting at the bar, both bringing local pub expertise.
Nathan sums up their vision: “We’re excited to welcome everyone back to ‘The Hollow’ to enjoy its unique atmosphere, outstanding hospitality, and rich heritage. Our goal is to put the heart and soul back into this fantastic pub.”
