Family of Gloucestershire Mum Who Died from Brazilian Butt Lift Urges Procedure Ban

The family of Alice Webb, the first known victim in the UK to die following a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), is demanding the procedure be banned to prevent further tragedies. The 33-year-old mother of five passed away after undergoing a non-surgical BBL at a clinic in Gloucester.

Two individuals were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter in connection with Alice’s death. While both were later released on bail, police confirmed in September last year that no further action would be taken against one of them.

Alice suffered a fall after the procedure, which typically involves injecting a substance into the buttocks—often performed by practitioners without medical qualifications. She later died in hospital.

In a heartfelt statement to ITV, Alice’s family called on the government to implement urgent legal changes. They said: “It has been over a year since Alice passed away, and we are still waiting for the government to introduce laws that will prevent more deaths from these dangerous BBL procedures.

“The past year has been devastating for all of Alice’s loved ones, and we would never want any family to endure such loss. We firmly believe that a temporary ban on BBLs should have been put in place until safe and regulated methods are established.

“Despite multiple warnings from organisations such as Save Face, successive governments have failed to act. While there has been much talk about changing the law, it is action—not words—that is needed to save lives. We urge the government to make these changes without delay.”

ITV News also produced an undercover documentary exposing Britain’s underground cosmetic surgery market, highlighting the risks posed by unqualified operators.

A spokesperson from the Department of Health and Social Care condemned the situation: “It is appalling that people are suffering life-altering physical and emotional harm due to botched cosmetic treatments by unqualified individuals. We are taking decisive steps to clamp down on rogue practitioners endangering the public.

“Our upcoming regulations will ensure only properly qualified healthcare professionals can perform such cosmetic procedures. Anyone considering these treatments should verify the provider’s credentials, insurance, and reputation.

“We urge caution against offers that appear too good to be true—your health is priceless.”
