Family Day in Gloucester Features Live Music, Food, and Video Game Tournament to Support Vulnerable People

A vibrant family-friendly event is set to take place in Gloucester on Friday, July 26, combining live music, delicious food, and an exciting video game tournament to raise money for vulnerable individuals in the city. Organized by the Kingfisher Treasure Seekers community group, the fundraiser aims to support The Cavern community café and support hub located on Westgate Street.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Cavern and promises a day filled with entertainment for all ages. Attendees can enjoy performances on the live and open mic stage, face painting, a photo booth, a tombola, and a range of tasty food offerings. The highlight of the day will be the video and computer games tournament, bringing together enthusiasts for friendly competition.

The fundraiser’s purpose is to generate essential funds and awareness to help The Cavern continue its vital services. The café offers a safe, inclusive space for people coping with complex challenges such as mental health issues, addiction, and homelessness. Many of those supported by The Cavern find themselves with no other place to turn.

David Hunt of The Cavern described the café as “much more than a café—it’s a lifeline for many in our community.” He explained that The Cavern provides a warm, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment where individuals can come as they are and find support. He emphasized the importance of offering a place of belonging, especially for those on the fringes of other services or facing long waits for help.

“The Cavern meets people with compassion, recognizing the person beyond the pain,” Hunt said. “When other services aren’t accessible, we offer a consistent, welcoming space where people know they will be listened to and supported. For many, The Cavern is the first place where they feel truly part of a community—a place they can call home.”

This event is a call for the community to come together, have fun, and contribute to a cause that provides hope, dignity, and vital connection for Gloucester’s most vulnerable residents.
