The grand Badminton House estate in Gloucestershire is once again centre stage in Netflix’s hit series The Gentlemen, as season two continues to capture audiences with its striking locations. This impressive 52,000-acre estate, which has previously featured in productions like Bridgerton and its spin-off Queen Charlotte, serves as the fictional Halstead Manor, the home of Eddie Horniman, portrayed by Theo James.
The new series resumes a year after Eddie became involved in the shadowy world of organised crime. Having inherited his father’s estate and the Duke of Halstead title, he uncovers a hidden financial connection to drug kingpin Bobby Glass, played by Ray Winstone. Now deeply entwined with Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario), Eddie pursues ambitions that stretch far beyond the English countryside.
For Gloucestershire viewers, Badminton House remains the most recognisable landmark of the show. The ancestral seat of the Duke of Beaufort lends Halstead Manor its commanding presence and expansive grounds, with its appearance in season two further highlighting one of the county’s most magnificent historic estates.

Additional English locations contribute to the show’s atmosphere, including Loseley Park near Guildford in Surrey, which provided many of the interior scenes inside Halstead Manor. Director Guy Ritchie’s own Ashcombe Estate in Wiltshire also served as a filming site, along with his private airfield on the property. Other notable settings include Salisbury Cathedral, Bullock’s Farmhouse, Greenwich Peninsula and Swakeleys House in Ickenham.
While Gloucestershire and the wider English countryside remain central to the series’ aesthetic, season two boldly shifts much of its action to northern Italy. Speaking at a press conference, creator Guy Ritchie explained this geographical evolution: “We didn’t want to just stay in the UK, it felt like there needed to be some evolution to the environment so enter the mafia. And if you’re going to choose a substructure of various villains, Italy is the place you want to choose them.”
The Italian segment’s standout location is Villa Rusconi-Clerici in Verbania, a late 19th-century palazzo overlooking Lake Maggiore’s Piedmont shoreline. The villa portrays the home of Bella (Benedetta Porcaroli), and the production built a temporary jetty outside the estate to accommodate many Riva motorboat scenes.
Nearby, the Grand Hotel Majestic in Pallanza provided the setting for an extravagant wedding scene and also served as the production base during filming in Italy. Other prominent locations included the Chiesa San Leonardo and the Dock Statua Di S.Dazio, both situated in Pallanza.
Actress Kaya Scodelario praised the Italian filming experience: “It’s gorgeous, the energy there, the beauty of it. We took our families out, got to spend time with our kids out there and I saw Guy Ritchie riding a bike every morning - that was a lovely image to witness. It was magical, he looked happy.”
The Gentlemen season two is now available for streaming on Netflix.
