Cheltenham Town is poised to bolster its defense by signing seasoned central defender James Wilson. At 36 years old, Wilson brings a wealth of experience from his extensive career across several clubs.
Most recently, Wilson has played two seasons with Bristol Rovers, where he made 80 appearances across all competitions. He is no stranger to Cheltenham Town, having previously appeared four times for the Robins during a loan spell from Bristol City in the 2013/14 season.
Throughout his career, Wilson has also represented Oldham Athletic, Sheffield United, Lincoln City, Ipswich Town, and had loan stints at Brentford and Walsall. His impressive resume includes over 400 professional appearances.

On the international stage, Wilson earned senior caps for Wales, debuting in a 1-1 draw against Belgium in October 2013. He also represented Wales at the Under-19 and Under-21 levels, showcasing his consistent talent from youth through to senior international football.
This signing marks the fifth new addition to Michael Flynn’s Robins this summer, following the arrivals of Robbie Cundy, Lee Angol, Taine Anderson, and Ryan Broom.
Cheltenham Town will next face Bristol City in a pre-season friendly at home, scheduled for Friday evening with a 7:45 pm kick-off.
