EXCLUSIVE: Jordan Shipley to Join Cheltenham Town from Port Vale

Cheltenham Town is poised to secure the signing of versatile midfielder Jordan Shipley, marking their second acquisition of the summer transfer window. The 28-year-old left-footed player brings valuable Championship and League One experience, having risen through the youth ranks at Coventry City where he enjoyed the success of two promotions.

Shipley also impressed during his tenure at Shrewsbury Town, playing under manager Steve Cotterill in League One. Last season, he featured in 33 matches for Port Vale, contributing two goals before being made available for transfer midway through his two-year contract.

Notably, Shipley scored against Cheltenham in a commanding 6-1 League Two victory at Whaddon Road in April 2018 and found the net at Wembley during Coventry’s 3-1 play-off final win over Exeter City in the same campaign.

Now, Shipley joins fellow midfielder Charlie McCann as part of Cotterill’s squad, preparing for the upcoming season. Cheltenham Town’s pre-season kicks off on July 1, followed by a week-long training camp in Spain starting July 4. Their first friendly match is scheduled away to Slimbridge on July 14.

Looking ahead, Cheltenham will compete in the 2026/27 EFL Trophy, facing Oxford United, Exeter City, and a Premier League U-21 team in the group stage. The Carabao Cup first round draw and the release of the new League Two fixtures are also set for the same day.
