EXCLUSIVE: Former Peterborough, Bradford and Wycombe Striker Lee Angol Set to Join Cheltenham Town

Cheltenham Town is on the verge of securing the services of striker Lee Angol, who is scheduled to undergo a medical this Monday, according to Gloucestershire Live. The 30-year-old forward looks set to be the club’s second summer addition following the signing of central defender Robbie Cundy.

Angol arrives with a varied and impressive football resume. Last season, he notably scored against Cheltenham while playing for Morecambe. Throughout his career, he has also featured for Wycombe Wanderers, Peterborough United, Mansfield Town, and Shrewsbury Town.

A product of the Tottenham Hotspur academy, Angol has demonstrated his adaptability and goal-scoring ability across several teams, including Leyton Orient, Bradford City, and Sutton United, prior to his stint with Morecambe last summer. His career also includes loan spells at Lincoln City, Boreham Wood, and Woking.

During the 2022-23 season, Angol contributed eight goals for Morecambe, including a memorable goal in a 2-0 victory over Cheltenham on April 1. Despite his efforts, Morecambe faced relegation to the National League.

Cheltenham Town kicks off their pre-season campaign with a friendly against Bishop’s Cleeve on Friday at 7pm, followed by a match against Worcester City the next afternoon. The club is welcoming six new trialists to training from Monday, adding to the three already evaluated during training sessions last week.
