Exciting Plans for Gloucester Car Boot Sale at Hempsted Meadows

The return of the car boot sale at Hempsted Meadows in Gloucester is set to be more than just a marketspace, with the new operator outlining ambitious plans for additional activities at the site. Gloucester City Council has conducted a thorough market assessment process to select the lease grantee.

The identity of the new operator is yet to be disclosed by the city council, but it is known that they have substantial experience in managing multiple car boot sites across the country.

The aim is to enrich the site with activities such as music events, a drive-in cinema, and outdoor fitness events, creating a lively and inclusive environment for the community and visitors, according to the council.

As part of the lease agreement, the operator will be required to submit annual business plans detailing land management, compliance with planning conditions, provision of public facilities, event marshalling, waste management, and land upkeep. To expedite the process, the council is looking to establish a temporary license with the new operator, allowing them to commence operations while lease negotiations are finalized.

A spokesperson for Gloucester City Council expressed their enthusiasm for the return of the car boot sale and praised the new operator for their envisioned enhancements to the site. The council is eager to welcome the community back to the Gloucester Car Boot Sale.

The last car boot sale at Hempsted Meadows was held on November 17 last year, under a temporary license managed by Reg Daldry.
