Gloucestershire County Cricket Club have confirmed that Kamran Dhariwal has signed a new two-year contract, securing the future of the exceptionally talented young cricketer.
Dhariwal, aged 21, made a memorable professional debut against Warwickshire Bears on 22 May, contributing to Gloucestershire’s 47-run victory in a low-scoring match. However, it was the following evening that he truly captured the attention of cricket enthusiasts.
Broadcast live on Sky Sports, Gloucestershire faced their Severnside rivals Glamorgan, chasing a target of 158 runs for victory. Batting in the middle order, Dhariwal displayed remarkable composure alongside Matt Taylor, steering the team to a thrilling last-ball win. His performance showcased not only his power-hitting ability but also his calmness under pressure.

Throughout the Vitality Blast tournament, Dhariwal continued to impress with his batting and fielding. Most notably, he delivered an extraordinary innings against Worcestershire Rapids, scoring a half-century off just 13 balls in nine minutes-the fastest domestic T20 fifty ever recorded in England by elapsed time. In a crucial match, his 70 runs from 22 balls, including eight sixes, were instrumental in securing Gloucestershire’s place in the quarter-finals.
Reflecting on the new contract, Dhariwal said: “I’m really happy. Gloucestershire has given me so much, and I’m grateful for the opportunities this season. I hope to keep improving and repay the Club with strong performances on the pitch.”
The contract arrangement will allow Dhariwal to continue balancing his demanding medical studies at the University of Bristol with his professional cricket career. Gloucestershire’s Director of Cricket, Jon Lewis, praised his dedication, stating: “Kamran is an exceptionally promising talent. Juggling his studies at one of the country’s premier universities alongside elite professional cricket is a testament to his commitment.”
“His performances at Sophia Gardens and New Road highlight his calibre as a batter. We are dedicated to supporting him in reaching his full potential, working closely with Bristol University to foster his development both on and off the field.”
Following the Vitality Blast campaign, Dhariwal made his List-A debut for Gloucestershire in the Metro Bank One Day Cup, marking another milestone in his growing career.
Dhariwal’s cricketing journey began at Hampshire’s Academy and the South Asian Cricket Academy (SACA). His standout performances for SACA in 2025 caught Gloucestershire’s attention, leading to a rookie contract. He then spent the 2025 season honing his skills with the Club’s Second XI, laying the foundation for his rapid progression to the first team.
