Ex-Gloucester MP Richard Graham Sells City Home but Remains Committed to Gloucestershire

Richard Graham, former Conservative MP for Gloucester, is selling his spacious city centre home but will continue to live in Gloucestershire. Having represented Gloucester at Westminster from 2010 until his retirement in July 2024, Graham remains deeply connected to the county he calls home.

Speaking to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, Graham emphasized that Gloucestershire is “too much in the DNA” to leave behind. Raised in the North Cotswolds and having lived across various villages and towns including Moreton-in-Marsh, Rodmarton, and Cirencester, he has spent 17 years in his current Gloucester residence—the longest he has lived in any one house.

Although he has put the large property on the market, Graham assured that any move would be within close proximity to Gloucester. “I will still be doing things in Gloucester,” he said, highlighting his involvement in local sports like padel and cricket with Gloucester City.

Reiterating a firm decision made at the general election, Graham confirmed he will not return to frontline politics. “I retired from frontline politics that night, and since I’ll be 71 at the next general election, that is the sensible thing to do,” he stated. Despite occasional encouragement from others, he remains confident in his choice to stay retired and focus on life in Gloucestershire.
