In the early hours of Thursday, June 19, a woman in her 90s narrowly escaped harm when she confronted a burglar who had broken into her home on Gloucester Road, Cheltenham. The incident unfolded around 2:55 a.m. after the woman was awakened by her dog’s persistent barking.
Upon taking her dog outside, she unexpectedly encountered a man inside her living room. Startled by her presence, the intruder fled through a broken window.
The woman was unharmed but left deeply shaken by the terrifying event.

According to Gloucestershire Police, the suspect is described as approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, slim in build, and wearing a balaclava at the time of the break-in. Investigators believe he gained entry by smashing a window.
Police are actively seeking witnesses and urge anyone with CCTV or doorbell footage that may assist the inquiry to come forward. The investigation continues with forensic teams examining the scene.
