An eight-day-old baby has been hospitalized after a car overturned on the M50 this morning, leaving the driver arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
The accident occurred at approximately 6:15 a.m. when a Peugeot 308 struck the nearside barrier between Junctions 1 and 2 before flipping onto its roof. The female driver, aged 37, was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of her injuries. The infant was transported to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for further medical care.
Police launched an immediate investigation and arrested the woman on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

The crash caused significant traffic disruption, with one lane eastbound on the M50 still closed due to ongoing barrier repairs. Drivers experienced lengthy delays as emergency services attended the scene and conducted their inquiries.
West Mercia Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage related to the collision to come forward. A spokesperson stated, “We encourage anyone who saw the crash or captured it on camera to get in touch.”
