Witnesses reported seeing the male driver flee the scene before officers arrived. Despite a thorough search of the area, the driver remained at large. Gloucestershire Police recovered the BMW, but the road remains partially closed while a structural engineer from National Highways assesses potential damage to the bridge.

Gloucestershire Police stated: “The front of the vehicle went through a wall and was left hanging off the bridge. The driver left before we arrived and despite searching, we have not found him. The road closure remains while damage is assessed, and investigations continue.”
