Driver Dies Following Collision Between Car and Motorbike Near Cirencester Fire Station

A man in his 80s tragically lost his life following a collision involving a Volkswagen Polo and a Triumph Thruxton motorcycle in Cirencester earlier today, Monday, March 2.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Watermoor Way, close to the Cirencester Fire Station roundabout, just before 2:40 pm.

The Volkswagen Polo driver, a local Cirencester resident, was treated by paramedics at the scene but later succumbed to his injuries. Gloucestershire Police have confirmed that his next of kin have been informed.

The motorbike rider was assessed by medical personnel and fortunately did not sustain any serious injuries.

The crash prompted the closure of multiple roads, including the A419, to facilitate a thorough investigation. These roads have since reopened.

Gloucestershire Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or who has dashcam footage related to the collision to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.

A police spokesperson stated: “A man has died following a collision in Cirencester this afternoon, and officers are seeking information. Anyone with relevant details is encouraged to contact the police, quoting incident 271 of 2 March.”
