Driver Alarmed as Truck Swings Equipment Unsafely Through Road in ‘GTA Style’ Incident

A local driver was left stunned after spotting a truck maneuvering through a mini-roundabout with a sizeable piece of equipment swinging dangerously at its side—described by the witness as “GTA style.”

The striking footage, shared on the Facebook page Cirencester – Spotted Driving or Parked Like an Idiot, captures a construction truck crossing Querns Lane near Waitrose on Saturday, January 10. The truck’s boom arm dangles loosely over the pavement, swinging unpredictably as it moves.

As the truck proceeds through the junction, the boom swings back and forth, eventually colliding with an orange barricade and a nearby road sign. Fortunately, no pedestrians were on the pavement at the time, but the driver who recorded the scene expressed deep concern about the risk posed.

They commented: “Saw the vehicle fly out Querns Lane at the junction towards Waitrose where I noticed the swinging pole could seriously harm someone as it was streaming down the path. The thing hit the orange barricade then the sign post coming onto the roundabout. GTA style.”

Social media users quickly responded to the clip, debating whether the truck driver was even aware of the hazard. Some suggested honking the horn or flashing lights to alert the driver, while others questioned if the issue had been reported to the trucking company.

One user speculated the apparatus, likely a large hose, might be used for clearing drains, explaining its frequent appearance on roads. However, safety concerns remained high. Comments included: “Not sure it should be flapping about in the street,” and “I hope you reported this—it could have caused a serious accident.”

Others criticized the truck driver for a lack of mirror checks and situational awareness, underscoring the risks posed by unsecured equipment swinging alongside vehicles in public spaces.
