Double-Decker Bus Crashes into Hedge with Passengers Onboard

A double-decker bus operated by Stagecoach West crashed into a hedge on Shurdington Road near Cheltenham yesterday afternoon, February 2nd, while carrying three passengers. The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 pm on a hill when the bus left the road and collided with the hedge.

Gloucestershire Police and emergency services responded promptly after reports of a collision involving the bus and a car. As a precaution, the A46 was closed to allow paramedics to assess those involved.

Two individuals sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment. Stagecoach West confirmed the presence of three passengers on board at the time of the crash.

A spokesperson for Stagecoach West said, “One of our buses was involved in a road traffic incident yesterday afternoon. Emergency services attended the scene, and the road was closed during recovery operations. We are conducting a full investigation to determine the cause of the incident. Passenger and road user safety remains our top priority, and we are cooperating fully with the authorities.”

Images and video from the scene showed the bus off the roadway surrounded by emergency personnel. Additionally, a damaged lamp post prompted National Grid to temporarily cut power in the area for safety reasons during the bus recovery. According to National Grid, properties within approximately 100 meters experienced temporary power outages as crews worked to secure the lamp post.
