Dominic Chinea Shares Emotional Update on His Dog Wendy’s Health

Dominic Chinea, known for his role on The Repair Shop, has shared a heartfelt update about his beloved dog Wendy during a recent YouTube Q&A session. The Spanish Water Dog, who is nearly six and a half years old, has been experiencing some health issues that left Dominic visibly concerned.

Wendy, unlike more common breeds such as Labradoodles or Cockapoos, has always been full of energy, but recently she hasn’t seemed herself. Dominic explained, “She’s been a bit sad — you can just tell when your dog isn’t happy. It’s a tough subject because she hasn’t been well. We took her to the vet as a precaution.”

Blood tests showed no serious problems, but vets suspect she might have an infection. Despite the scare, Dominic reassured fans that Wendy is on the mend. “She’s eating, drinking, and gaining energy again. She’s OK, and she’s loving Cornwall,” he added.

Wendy’s situation is a timely reminder for dog owners to stay vigilant, especially during warmer weather. The Scottish SPCA recently issued advice about the risks of walking dogs in the heat, emphasizing that temperature tolerance can vary depending on a dog’s size, breed, and overall health. They warn that walking dogs in temperatures above 20°C can be risky, especially when factors like age or coat thickness come into play.

Similarly, the RSPCA urges pet owners to ensure their dogs have access to shade, water, and cool ground during outings and to never leave dogs unattended in vehicles, where temperatures can rise dangerously high, even if it feels mild outside.

As The Repair Shop returns to BBC One tonight, viewers will no doubt be thinking of Dominic and Wendy, sending hopes for a full recovery for his loyal companion.
