Prince Andrew, now officially known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, has reportedly angered Prince William following his conduct at a recent royal funeral. The former Duke of York and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, caused a stir by appearing uninvited at the Duchess of Kent’s funeral last September, raising eyebrows among the royal family and observers alike.
According to reports from The Mirror, Andrew was present among senior royals paying tribute to Katharine, who passed away at age 92. However, while others maintained solemnity at Westminster Abbey, Andrew was seen smiling and chuckling, behavior that is said to have deeply infuriated the Prince of Wales.
Royal biographer Andrew Lownie shared insights, saying, “William was ‘furious’ about being ambushed in this way. He has consistently distanced himself from his uncle and avoids being photographed alongside him.” Lownie added that William believes King Charles has not been firm enough with Andrew, whose actions—along with those of Sarah Ferguson—have undermined the efforts of other royal family members.

Further tensions between Andrew and William reportedly stem from heated remarks Andrew allegedly made about Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. These revelations come from Lownie’s new biography, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the Yorks, which explores the former couple’s turbulent past, including controversial friendships and secretive financial ventures.
Sources indicate that the relationship between uncle and nephew has been strained for years, initially souring as Andrew’s behavior began to damage the monarchy’s public image. William is said to have taken issue with Andrew’s disrespectful comments about the Duchess of Cambridge, though specific details remain undisclosed.
The biography also reveals William’s efforts to evict Andrew and Sarah from the Royal Lodge, a sprawling 30-room mansion on the Windsor Castle grounds. According to insiders, William is frustrated with Andrew’s neglect of the property, which has reportedly fallen into disrepair.
An anonymous source quoted in the book stated, “William loathes Sarah and is eager for his father to remove them both. Should Charles fail to act, William intends to take decisive steps to have them evicted when he becomes king.”
This week, Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles has begun the process of stripping Andrew of all formal royal titles, effective immediately. The 65-year-old will henceforth be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and will relocate to accommodations at the Sandringham estate, valued at £60 million.
Sarah Ferguson, however, has not been granted alternative royal housing and is believed to be living independently following her controversial connections to Jeffrey Epstein.
This latest development signals a poignant shift within the royal family, highlighting ongoing efforts to manage public image and family dynamics amid past controversies.
