Discover Authentic Cotswolds Crafts and Produce at New Bourton-on-the-Water Shop

Visitors to Bourton-on-the-Water, one of Gloucestershire’s most popular destinations, have welcomed a fresh addition this summer that highlights the best of local craftsmanship and produce. Made in the Cotswolds, which opened its doors in April, is dedicated to celebrating products genuinely made, finished or created within the Cotswolds region.

Founder Claire Cox explained the inspiration behind the shop: “Our aim is to create somewhere that visitors immediately associate with the Cotswolds. We want people to know that when they buy something from us, they are supporting local businesses and helping keep money within the local economy. We are passionate about the Cotswolds and wanted to create a shop that genuinely celebrates the area.”

The carefully curated selection ranges from cider to ceramics, offering items with meaning beyond the typical souvenir. Claire hopes visitors will enjoy “a chance to take home a genuine piece of the Cotswolds while supporting local businesses, makers and producers.”

The shelves feature gifts, homeware and food products chosen to reflect the unique character and heritage of the region. While some components may be sourced from outside the UK, the focus remains firmly on goods made, finished or produced within the Cotswolds itself, rather than items simply bearing a Cotswolds-themed label.

Made in the Cotswolds is particularly committed to collaborating with independent makers, farmers, producers and small businesses from across the area. Claire’s partner, Iain, who is often present in the shop, adds: “We’re proud of where our products come from. There are so many talented people producing fantastic things across the Cotswolds, and we want to give them another platform to reach the thousands of visitors who come to Bourton-on-the-Water every year.”

Looking ahead, the team plans to enhance the shop’s online presence so that customers who have enjoyed their visit can continue to support local producers even after they return home.
