A devoted husband and loving father tragically lost his life in a collision on the A417 earlier this month, leaving his family and community heartbroken.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 9:40 a.m. on Sunday, February 1, on the Birdlip bypass. It involved a car transporter and a Honda Civic. The Honda’s driver, 46-year-old Rudis Rafael Lara de Los Santos from Gloucester, sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rudis is remembered by his family as a man defined by love, responsibility, and unwavering dedication. In a touching tribute shared by Gloucestershire Police on behalf of his family, he was described as a devoted husband and generous father who took pride in providing stability and unconditional love for his children.

“His passing leaves an immense void, but his legacy of love and strength will continue to inspire all who knew him,” the tribute reads. “Rest in peace, Rudis. You will always be in our hearts.”
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and are appealing for witnesses, especially those who have not yet come forward. They also seek any dashcam footage or other information that may assist the inquiry.
