Devoted Gloucestershire Dad Found Dead at Roadside, Remembered for Kindness and Family Devotion

The family of Andy Reed, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, has shared a heartfelt tribute following his tragic death near Cheltenham last weekend. Andy, 62, was discovered deceased in a ditch alongside Old Gloucester Road in Staverton on Sunday, May 3, at approximately 1:20 pm.

In a touching statement, Andy’s family described him as a devoted and kind-hearted man whose loss has left their lives forever changed. “Andy wasn’t just a husband but a best friend. We created many happy memories together, and he made my life complete. Life without him is unimaginable,” they said. Known for his generosity, Andy was always ready to help anyone in need. He cherished quiet days spent gardening, tinkering in the garage, and taking long walks with the family dog alongside his wife, children, and grandchildren. He provided unwavering comfort and guidance, serving as an inspiring role model and steadfast support through both joyous and challenging times. The family expressed deep gratitude for the community’s kindness and support during their grieving period.

Gloucestershire Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team is actively investigating Andy’s death, which remains unexplained following a post-mortem examination that revealed several unexplained injuries. Andy was last seen in Staverton around 10 pm on Saturday, April 25, and reported missing on Tuesday, April 28. Police issued a missing person appeal on April 29, leading to the discovery of Andy’s body on May 3.

Detective Inspector Hannaford has highlighted that a missing blue women’s Dutch-style bicycle may be a crucial piece of evidence. The bike is described as having a bright blue/turquoise frame, a white saddle, and a metal rack above the rear tire.

Authorities urge anyone with information or who may have seen Andy walking or cycling along Old Gloucester Road between April 25 and May 3 to come forward. The police continue to appeal to the public in hopes of piecing together the events of Andy’s final days.
