Devastated Gloucestershire Family Faces Life Without Beloved Mum, 31

The family of Becky Robins, a 31-year-old mum from Gloucestershire, is preparing for life without her after receiving heartbreaking medical news. Over the past 18 months, Becky has endured a series of devastating diagnoses that have left her terminally ill. Her loved ones have been overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of their community while working to support Becky and her five-year-old daughter, Rose.

In December 2024, Becky was diagnosed with stage 5 renal failure, marking the start of a difficult journey. Just two months later, she was also diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of blood cancer. Despite efforts to treat her with chemotherapy and dialysis, suspected seizures in recent months have made these options no longer viable. Becky is now at home in Minchinhampton, where doctors have confirmed there is nothing more they can do.

Becky’s mother, Sharon Robins, 59, shares the heavy burden of watching her daughter’s health decline, checking hourly to ensure she is breathing. The family has been devastated by the swift progression of Becky’s illness but remains united in love and support. They have launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist with preparations for Becky’s memorial service and to create a special memorial space for Rose—a place where she can feel close to her mother in the years ahead.

Sharon recounts how Becky’s health challenges began early, with a diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes at age 15. Following the birth of Rose in 2021, Becky’s condition worsened due to pre-eclampsia, a serious pregnancy complication affecting multiple organs. She faced constant infections and was on antibiotics nearly non-stop until late 2024 when her kidneys began to fail. Although a kidney transplant was planned with her brother as a perfect match, further complications intervened.

Tragedy struck again in February 2026, just before Rose’s fifth birthday, when Becky was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The family responded by creating cherished memories, including a recent holiday to Weymouth. Unfortunately, on the return journey, Becky suffered a suspected stroke, leading to significant physical paralysis. She now cannot move from the chest down and remains reliant on medication for comfort.

The family’s GoFundMe page highlights their wish to make Becky’s remaining time meaningful, ease financial pressures, and support Rose through her grief. Sharon expresses deep gratitude for the overwhelming generosity of strangers, including a £1,000 anonymous donation.

Though no amount of money or medicine can change their painful reality, the family is determined to honor Becky’s memory with a rose tree and plaque in their garden—a place for Rose to visit whenever she needs to feel close to her mummy.
