Dedicated Police Officer Ian Minett Remembered After Sudden Passing on Duty

The Gloucestershire community is mourning the loss of PC Ian Minett, a devoted police officer who tragically passed away while on night duty on June 21. At just 38 years old, PC Minett’s sudden death has left his family, colleagues, and friends heartbroken.

Ian’s passion for policing began early, with a lifelong ambition to serve the community. He joined Gloucestershire Constabulary as a Special Constable in 2006 and dedicated 13 years in that role. In 2019, he briefly served with the Ministry of Defence before returning to Gloucestershire Police in 2022 as a full-time Local Policing Constable covering Cheltenham and Tewkesbury.

His family expressed immense pride in his accomplishments and the legacy he leaves behind: “Ian died performing the job he loved, in the town he loved. He was well loved and respected by all who knew and worked with him. We were privileged to have you as our son, and we will keep your memories alive in our hearts forever.”

Colleagues also paid tribute to Ian’s character and dedication. Adam Williams, chairman of Gloucestershire Police Federation, said, “Ian was well liked by everyone who worked with him. His loss is deeply felt across the shift, the station, and the entire Constabulary.”

PC Ian Minett’s unwavering commitment and service touched many lives, and his memory continues to inspire those who knew him. His spirit of dedication and community will be remembered always.
