Deal or No Deal, the beloved TV game show hosted by Noel Edmonds from 2003 to 2016, captivated audiences with its thrilling offers and high stakes. While the top prize reached £250,000, many contestants walked away with impressive winnings, including Lynne Hackles, who won £75,000 and recently revealed how the prize changed her life.
Lynne’s motivation to join the show stemmed from a personal story. Her husband Colin had dreamed of cycling coast to coast across the UK, but a heart attack halted his plans. Instead, Lynne hoped to embark on a motorhome adventure together, but needed the financial means to make it happen.
Reflecting on her experience, Lynne recalled her decisive gameplay: “I took out the two biggest numbers in the first round and just got on with it. In the end, I still had the £75,000.”

In the nail-biting final moments, the banker offered her a swap between two boxes. “My friend, who was in the audience, advised me to stick with what I had. The amounts left were £20,000 and about £11, so I thought, ‘That’s not going to get us motor home round the coast.’ My husband said, ‘Just go for it,’” Lynne shared.
Her bold choice paid off, scoring her the impressive £75,000 prize. Host Noel Edmonds’ reaction was just as memorable: “He threw the box in the air, called Colin down from the audience, gave me a big hug and was genuinely pleased.”
Lynne believes her vibrant personality helped her stand out during casting. “I convinced myself I was competing with other women my age. Plus, I was wearing lime green and had red hair!”
Thanks to her winning, Lynne and Colin were able to buy the motorhome and enjoy the UK road trip they had dreamed of. The prize money not only fulfilled a lifelong ambition but also brought new adventures and cherished memories.
