David Beckham, the footballing legend, was spotted at Wimbledon on June 30, just days after being discharged from hospital following wrist surgery. The 50-year-old arrived at the tournament’s opening day, taking a seat in the prestigious Royal Box alongside football manager Sir Gareth Southgate. Presenters Richard Osman and his wife were also among the guests just behind them.
Beckham, recently honored with a knighthood in the King’s Birthday Honours, sported a light beige suit paired with a brown tie, embracing the summer spirit. He was accompanied by his mother, Sandra Beckham, who celebrated her 76th birthday over the weekend. Their shared laughter exemplified the relaxed yet distinguished atmosphere of the event.
Adding to the excitement, former World No. 1 tennis player Maria Sharapova posted a selfie with Beckham on Instagram, captioning it, “Let the (Wimbledon) games begin,” highlighting the star-studded crowd.

Notably, Beckham’s right wrist and ring finger were bandaged, revealing his recent surgery to treat an old injury sustained during an England match against South Africa in 2003. The injury involved a broken wrist, and a bioabsorbable pin inserted at the time had not dissolved properly, necessitating the recent procedure.
Despite the surgery, Beckham’s activity hasn’t slowed down. On June 29, just a day before Wimbledon, he was seen at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, USA, watching Inter Miami — the Major League Soccer team he co-owns — play against Paris St-Germain, one of his former clubs. Beckham wore a navy suit adorned with an Inter Miami club patch and carried his arm in a full sling. When asked about his condition, he confidently responded, “It’s fine. It’s an old injury that needed surgery, but it’s all good. All good.”
Beckham was not the only notable figure present at Wimbledon’s opening day. Princess Beatrice accompanied by her mother Sarah Ferguson, Sir Cliff Richard, and the couple Marvin and Rochelle Humes were also seen enjoying the prestigious tennis event.
