Darrell Clarke Returns to Bristol Rovers for Second Spell as Manager

Darrell Clarke has made a highly anticipated return to Bristol Rovers as head coach, signing a three-year deal at the Memorial Stadium. Clarke, 47, is no stranger to the club, having previously managed the Gas through an impressive period between 2014 and 2016 that saw back-to-back promotions from the National League to League One.

His return comes after a challenging season for Bristol Rovers, who were relegated to League Two after finishing 22nd. The club parted ways with head coach Inigo Calderon on Sunday following a brief spell that began on Boxing Day, succeeding former manager Matt Taylor.

Clarke departed Cheltenham Town last summer to join Barnsley, only to leave Barnsley in March. Now back at Bristol Rovers, he expressed his delight at rejoining the club.

“It is difficult to put into words just how special it feels to come back to Bristol Rovers,” Clarke said in a statement. “I am beyond proud to return to this exceptional club.

“Despite the difficulties of the recent season, the potential here remains incredibly high. When the opportunity to come back arose, I had no hesitation.

“I’m eager to start working in the off-season, prepare the squad for the new campaign, and return to the Mem for another chapter in front of our brilliant, passionate Gasheads.

“We will need every supporter behind us next season, and I want to build a team they are proud of and performances they can truly get behind.”

Clarke’s return has been warmly received by the Rovers faithful, hopeful that his leadership can restore the club’s fortunes and spark a new era of success.
