Nick George and his family traveled 115 miles from Wolverhampton to Weston-Super-Mare, eager to make the most of the sunny holiday. However, upon arrival, Nick found the beach far quieter than he had anticipated. He shared his experience on TikTok, capturing the surprising scene.
Despite the sweltering heat, the sandy stretch was largely deserted. As Nick filmed, he explained the mystery: the tide had receded, revealing a vast expanse of thick mud rather than the typical sandy beach.

Nick showed his feet submerged ankle-deep in slippery mud, navigating carefully to keep balance. While other visitors casually strolled through the wet mud after a swim, many looked as if they were exploring an estuary instead of a traditional beach.
Viewers quickly chimed in on social media, many unsurprised by the muddy conditions. One local commented, “As a resident of Weston, we never mentioned we had a beach.” Another suggested, “There’s a nicer beach down the road from here.” Others clarified that Weston-Super-Mare’s shoreline is more accurately described as an estuary—where rivers meet the sea—often humorously dubbed “Weston-super-Mud.”
Despite the muddy reality, Nick remained positive. In a follow-up video, he thanked viewers for their comments and confirmed that his family thoroughly enjoyed their day, praising the perfect weather. “Apart from the mud, the beach was fantastic,” he said. “Five out of five, definitely coming back again.”
