Countryfile star Matt Baker recently shared a charming photo of himself and his wife, Nicola, enjoying a sunny day together doing something close to their hearts. Fans have come to love the couple through their popular Channel 4 series, Our Farm in The Dales, where they document life running a sheep farm near Matt’s childhood home in the Durham hills.
Taking a break from filming, Matt and Nicola attended the 2025 Great Yorkshire Show in Harrogate, England’s largest agricultural event since the Royal Agricultural Show ended in 2009. Celebrating its 166th year from July 8 to 11, the event attracted thousands, including Matt and Nicola, who were spotted smiling and snapping selfies during one of the horse shows.
Matt posted the joyful picture on Instagram with the caption: “We love the @greatyorkshireshow.” Throughout the day, the couple handed out awards and hosted a Meet and Greet, during which Matt invited Nicola on stage, delighting the crowd.

While Matt’s background is deeply rooted in countryside life and farming, Nicola has carved out a career as a physiotherapist and mother to their two children. In recent years, she has pursued her passion for writing, turning a longtime hobby into a full-time career with three children’s novels published and more underway.
Meanwhile, Matt continues his role as co-presenter of BBC One’s Countryfile, a program that explores rural, agricultural, and environmental issues in the UK.
In a recent interview on the Lorraine show, the couple reflected on balancing their individual career projects. Matt explained, “We’re such doers in our lives, and we’re so supportive of what each other wants to do, we’ve just found our way through.” Nicola added that the demands of their separate work commitments have made them cherish their time together even more. “We make the most of the time that we have together and prioritise that and make the most of that,” she shared.
Matt and Nicola’s love story began when Matt performed at a disco in Cleethorpes. They married in 2004 and now, over two decades later, live in Durham with their children Molly and Luke, continuing to share their passion for rural life and their supportive partnership.
