Countryfile’s Adam Henson Knocked Over by Powerful Sheep During Filming Mishap

Countryfile fans were in for a surprise when presenter Adam Henson was caught on camera experiencing a sudden, painful encounter with one of his sheep. The clip, shared on the BBC One programme’s Instagram page, shows the 60-year-old farmer attempting to check his Romney Rams before releasing them with the ewes.

Countryfile captioned the video with a nod to the unpredictable nature of working with livestock: “Respect for this sheep’s attitude. Checking his Romney Rams over before letting them out into the field with the ewes is an essential part of their care and involves catching them! But that can be a little tricker than expected as @Adamhenson_ found out! Both the rams and Adam were absolutely unharmed and the rams were pleased to eventually get out into the field after their check up.”

In the footage, Adam explains, “I’ve got to check the boys over first and the Romney, oh my word, as you can see are powerful sheep!” Suddenly, one of the rams charges at him. Adam tries to steady the animal, saying, “Let me just bring them back out here… now listen, steady, steady, steady, steady…” but before he can react, the sheep forcefully collides with him, sending Adam crashing into a metal fence.

“I’ve got to hold them under the chin to control them, but he got the better of me!” Adam exclaims, letting out a swear word in surprise – a rare moment for the usually composed presenter.

Fans quickly flooded the comments, amused by Adam’s unexpected reaction. “The fact that @adamhenson_ swore has made my day,” one viewer wrote, while another added, “I don’t think we’ve heard Adam swear before!” accompanied by laughter emojis.

Adam Henson has been a staple of Countryfile since joining the show in 2001. Beyond the flagship programme, he appears in spin-offs like Countryfile Summer Diaries and Inside Out, and lends his farming expertise to BBC Radio 4’s On Your Farm and Farming Today. Alongside his broadcasting career, he manages Bemborough Farm in Gloucestershire, home to the popular Cotswolds Farm Park, drawing thousands of visitors annually.

Recently, Adam excited fans by sharing joyful news about the arrival of 14 piglets at his farm, highlighting his ongoing connection to farming life. Despite the sheep encounter, Adam and his lively Romney Rams are all doing well, continuing their vital work on the farm and on screen.
