Adam Henson, renowned presenter of BBC’s Countryfile and a familiar figure on his Cotswolds farm, has announced an exciting initiative ahead of a heartfelt career decision. Taking to the official Countryfile Instagram, Adam revealed the search for a Young Countryside Champion as part of the BBC Food and Farming Awards 2025.
In a video message from his farm, Adam explained: “Countryfile is looking for a passionate young person, between 16 and 24 years old, who is making a positive impact on the British countryside. Whether it’s innovative farming, wildlife conservation, or community volunteering, we want to hear their story.”
Accompanying the announcement, the show urged viewers to nominate outstanding young individuals by visiting the BBC Food and Farming Awards website before the deadline on June 30, 2025.

This call for young leaders comes amid Adam’s recent revelation about his personal future. In a candid interview with the Daily Express, he shared that he and his wife, Charlie, will leave their farming tenancy in 12 years. Although his children are skilled with farm life, their careers have taken different paths—his daughter as an events organiser in Perth and his son as a financial advisor in Leeds.
Adam reflected on the emotional transition: “When the tenancy expires, Charlie and I will move to a nearby bungalow in Winchcombe, where we will keep some sheep and dogs. It will be the end of an era, but I look forward to continuing to enjoy the beautiful countryside.”
Countryfile fans can continue to follow Adam’s journey as the show celebrates farming and rural life, streaming on BBC iPlayer.
