Adam Henson, well-known as a presenter on the BBC’s Countryfile, has quietly shared his personal life with his long-term partner, Charlotte Gilbert — often called Charlie. The couple, who met in their teenage years, have built a life together on their Cotswolds farm, raising two grown children, Ella and Alfie.
Adam credits Charlie with encouraging him to pursue his television career. He revealed that she insisted he audition for Countryfile’s presenter search, despite his initial reluctance. Thanks to her support, he secured the role in 2021 and has become a familiar face on the show ever since.
In 2021, their lives faced a major challenge when Charlie was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Adam described the diagnosis as terrifying, acknowledging the severity often associated with the disease. Fortunately, Charlie’s diagnosis was a treatable form known as neuroendocrine pancreatic cancer. Reflecting on the ordeal, Adam shared with BBC Gloucestershire that the family “went through the mill” but remained hopeful throughout the treatment.

During this difficult period, the couple chose to marry. Their wedding took place in 2023 at Stroud Registry Office. Charlie expressed that after nearly three decades together, getting married became suddenly urgent—they didn’t know what time they had left, and she wanted Adam to know her commitment. Adam described the emotional ceremony as a powerful moment where he could openly express his deep love and devotion.
Their story is a testament to love, resilience, and partnership in the face of adversity. Countryfile continues to air on BBC One, sharing stories not just of the countryside but also of those who live and care within it.
