Council Leaders Contemplate Contacting Virgin Media Founder Richard Branson Over Cheltenham Project Delays

Council leaders in Cheltenham are increasingly frustrated with ongoing delays in Virgin Media’s infrastructure work across the town. The slow pace has prompted discussions about directly reaching out to Sir Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin Group, in hopes of speeding up the project.

Officials report that despite numerous attempts to coordinate with Virgin Media and its contractors, progress remains sluggish, causing disruption and concern among residents and businesses. The delays have stalled the planned improvements intended to enhance broadband services in the area.

One council chief expressed their sentiments bluntly: “It very much feels like we are up against a brick wall.” This frustration stems from repeated missed deadlines and unclear communication, leaving those impacted wanting answers and resolution.

The council is now considering drafting a letter to Sir Richard Branson to seek his intervention in accelerating the work. They believe that involving a high-level figure within the company may help break the current impasse and bring much-needed focus to the project.

As the situation develops, local authorities remain committed to advocating for the community and ensuring that the necessary infrastructure upgrades are completed promptly and efficiently.
