Cotswolds’ Tinkley Gate Celebrates Third Anniversary with Extended Summer Evenings, Live Music, and Wood-Fired Pizza

With summer in full swing and daylight stretching well past 9pm, Tinkley Gate at Woodchester Park is inviting visitors to make the most of the long evenings with an exciting series of after-hours events. Nestled just outside Stroud in the picturesque Cotswolds, this National Trust site is celebrating its third anniversary with a rich programme blending nature, culture, and family-friendly activities.

From now until July 25, Tinkley Gate will extend its closing time from 5pm to 8pm every Friday and Saturday. This offers guests the perfect opportunity to take peaceful woodland strolls while soaking in the stunning golden-hour views of the park.

Visitors can unwind at the café’s relaxed outdoor space, furnished with hammocks, deck chairs, lawn games, and board games. The menu features delicious wood-fired pizzas, focaccia, cakes, and drinks, with last food orders taken at 7pm before closing at 7:30pm. New this year, a dessert club will introduce a variety of ice cream-based treats alongside the established favorites.

Several special events complement the extended hours. On July 11 and 24, live music will be performed free of charge, creating a vibrant atmosphere under the evening sky. Additionally, guests can book guided walks and art workshops through the National Trust Woodchester Park website to deepen their connection with the surroundings.

The summer also brings two outdoor theatre performances by Quantum Theatre. On Sunday, July 19 at 5:30pm, families can enjoy “The Tales of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny,” followed by “Treasure Island” on Friday, August 7 at 5:30pm. Advance booking is essential, with tickets available online through the Trust’s events page.

August offers more opportunities for engagement with a free 10k trail run and a Moth Morning event on August 23, both starting at 9:30am. The Moth Morning invites visitors to observe and learn about these fascinating insects in daylight.

Max Biddlestone, National Trust Visitor Experience Manager for the Cotswolds, expressed enthusiasm about the celebration: “We’re thrilled to mark three wonderful years at Tinkley Gate with such a varied and vibrant programme. From theatre and music to walks and workshops, there’s truly something for everyone. We’re grateful to the local communities for their ongoing support.”

Experience the beauty and culture of Woodchester Park like never before this summer—whether you’re seeking relaxation, adventure, or entertainment.
