Cotswolds Residents Warned After Surge in Burglaries Targeting High-Value Homes

In a concerning spike, twelve high-value burglaries were reported across the Cotswolds within a single month, prompting a strong warning from Gloucestershire Police to local residents.

Thieves targeted valuable items including jewellery, watches, cash, handbags, antiques, silverware, and safes during break-ins predominantly occurring between 4:30 pm and 11 pm. The affected areas include Saintbury, Winchcombe, Icomb, and Andoversford. Police believe these properties were specifically selected.

Investigations are underway with forensic examinations, door-to-door enquiries, and CCTV analysis at the affected homes. Officers are actively exploring potential links among the incidents.

In response, proactive police patrols have increased throughout the Cotswolds. Residents are urged to stay vigilant, report any suspicious behavior – such as individuals slowly driving through neighborhoods – and reassess their home security measures.

Authorities are seeking assistance from anyone with information, footage from CCTV or dashcams that may aid investigations. Those with relevant information should contact Gloucestershire Police via their website, referencing incident 106 of 26 February.

In emergencies, or if a crime is in progress, police urge residents to call 999 immediately, especially if suspects are nearby or there is an immediate threat to safety or property.

To enhance home security, officers recommend a ‘WIDE’ combination of security measures, which residents can adopt to better protect homes, sheds, and garages. Secure back gates are also strongly advised.
